Cleaning Aluminum Frame Umbrellas

With regular care, your aluminum umbrella will stay beautiful for years. Wash with mild soap and water. After rinsing, towel dry the frame and air dry the canopy. Skip abrasive pads, harsh cleaners, or bleach. They’ll damage the frame finish.

Cleaning Wood Frame Umbrellas

Wood umbrellas may need slightly different care depending on the type of wood. In most cases, mild soap, water, and a soft cloth or brush work excellently. For specialty finishes or woods, check the manufacturer’s instruction manual that comes with the umbrella.

Preventative Care

The most important rule is to keep the umbrella closed when not in use or on windy days. Wind damage is excluded from the warranty.

Besides that, umbrellas don’t need much maintenance beyond occasional cleaning. Don’t let dirt sit too long as it gets harder to remove over time.

For long-term protection, consider covering or storing your umbrella when it won’t be used for an extended period of time.

Fabric Care

For everyday care, gently clean spots with a mild soap and water solution. Simply brush away loose dirt and wash with warm water (no hotter than 100° F). Use a mild, natural soap before thoroughly rinsing.

Allow the canopy to air dry completely. Avoid using heat or steam, as it may cause the fabric to shrink.
