The World’s Finest: Only the Finest Features for the Finest Rocker

Golden hour is approaching. Your backyard is awash in honeyed light. The kind that sits lightly on your skin--a warm embrace.  Bluegrass floats through the screen window, with just enough scratch to know it’s vinyl instead of digital. You’re old-fashioned that way. Your glass sweats in your hand, the ice cubes jingle a soft melody as you pad your grass-stained feet across the porch. You sit--lean back, the weight immediately lifting from your tired spine. You’re weary from a day spent pulling, digging, planting, weeding. It’s the World’s Finest Rocking Chair, and it’s on your porch.

You rest your bare arms on its wide, adult-size arms. Any other size just wouldn’t cradle your tired bones the same way. You’re not fearful of splinters--this is genuine Robinia Wood! It’s strong, it’s smooth--it’s built to last. Bring on the hail storms, the sticky humidity, the unforgiving sun, even Uncle Jed and his pounds to spare. You cross your legs, planting one foot on the dusty floor to maintain the sway of the chair. It’s heavy, substantial. The way a real rocker is built. Grandma always said, “Beware a lightweight rocker.” One slight push from your resting foot and it’s set in motion, rocking easily and matching the tempo of the plucked strings spinning on your turntable. No chair takes away more stress than your rocking chair. It’s your first stop at the end of a long day, cold drink in hand. Back and forth. Back and forth. Rocking away the day. If this were any other chair, not the World’s Finest, the stress would surely rub away at the joints. But if you know anything about fine furniture (and oh yes, you do), you know you needn't worry about a little stress. Traditional mortise and tenon joinery techniques were used in fashioning your chair. Strong, tapered ends rest snugly and safely within the joining piece. Weatherproof glue, a quality screw, sure--those are all well and fine, but nothing compares to the perfect construction. The sun is setting, now. Nothing but the sad, melted remnants of ice cubes left in your glass. A mournful harmonica cries from your window. You stretch, grateful once again for the gentle, sloping contours in the seat and back of your rocking chair. Your lower back, still punishing you for the hours of yard work you put it through earlier, breathes a great sigh of relief at the considerate, S-shaped contours of your chair. The backs of your legs, angry with fresh mosquito bites, are comfortable, too. The seat slat guard on the front of your chair protects them from the sharp lines and edges of the chair’s slats.

The record spins on, silent except for the subtle scratches of the needle. Dusk settles, and the painted sky only remembers the sun now. You stand up, and your chair gently glides to a stop. You're sad to leave it as you retire indoors for the evening, but you’re left with a sense of peace. After all, it’ll be here tomorrow. To learn more about how you can achieve this feeling, please visit our section on the World’s Finest Rocking Chairs.
