Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts founded Augusta National Golf Club in 1933, on a former nursery in Augusta, Georgia. The Masters followed the next year and has been played there every spring since. Most people know the place from a few images: azaleas in bloom, pines lining the fairways, and a stillness around the course that broadcasts rarely manage to capture. It is one of the most private and most exacting clubs in the world. Membership is by invitation only, and the club is known for a devotion to detail that borders on obsession.

That devotion is the reason it matters that Augusta National chose our rocker. Whatever sits on its porches has to look right beside the gorgeous buildings and the landscape, and it has to be there again next season, and the one after that. The people who visit have often been coming for decades; they notice when something is out of place, and they notice more when it is right.
